Chimpanzees and Gorilla trekking in Uganda

Walk hand in hand with Chimpanzees in Kibaale National Park and endure the crazy experience trekking Gorilla in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Bwindi national park is home to over half of the remaining endangered mountain gorillas.

You will spend about an hour close to the gorillas go about their life and take photos. This once-in-a-lifetime experience will take you through the Afro-montane and tropical rain forests of Uganda.

All about the Wild Chimps & Gorilla Trekking Challenge.

Walk hand in hand with Chimpanzees in Kibaale National Park and endure the crazy experience tracking Gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. This once-in-a-lifetime experience will take you through the afro-montane and tropical rainforests of Uganda.

  • Visit the mountain gorillas (US$ 600 in High Season per person and US $450 per person in Low Season, not included in the price).
  • Chimp tracking in Kibale National Park (include in quoted price)
  • 4WD Toyota Hiace for transport with a pop-up roof and a comfy window seat.
  • A whole day with researchers following the chimps is called the Habituation Experience. This comes at an extra US $70 per person. When you do this, it might not be possible to do the Bigodi Swamp Walk on the same day. But you can opt to do this on the day of arrival.
  • Accomodation in beautiful of Nature Lodges.
  • The choice of “Lazy” camping (fully equipped tents with shared toilets and showers).
  • All accommodation is on Bed & Breakfast basis.

  1. Day1 To Kibale National Park

    In the morning, we leave for Kibale Forest. We will arrive at Kibale Forest Camp in the afternoon, settle in and rest after the long drive.

  2. Day 2 Walking with the Chimps

    The 4 hour chimp walk will start at 8:00am during which you may also get to see 10 other primates! Kibaale National Park is also known for its assorted butterflies and birds species. In the afternoon we will take a jungle walk through Bigodi Swamp.

  3. Day 3 Enroute to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

    We will pass mountains, hills and lakes with cultivated terraces, tropical rainforest and bamboo forest until we get to Kisoro where we will stay in the famous Travellers Rest Hotel.

  4. Day 4 Gorilla Tracking atlast!

    Early in the morning, we will drive to the starting point of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest NP. Once there we will be briefed and the tracking will start immediately after It might be challenging and you need to be physically fit but once you have found the gorillas, you will be able to spend up to one hour with them! We will then spend night at Gorilla Lodge on the edge of the forest.

  5. Day 5 Back to Kampala

    In the morning, we will head back to Kampala. We shall make a couple of stops for lunch and to pick up souvenirs.

Yes. You must purchase gorilla viewing permits in advance. Current cost of gorilla viewing permits in Rwanda is $750 and in Uganda is $500 per person for a one hour visit in a group of eight visitors.

You must be able and willing to hike in rough terrain and in any weather to see Mountain Gorillas in the wild. However, many older people who don't think of themselves as hikers or adventurers can successfully visit the gorillas. Personal assistants can be hired to carry your daypack and assist you in difficult areas.
